Do Google Play testers need to use your app every day for 14 days?

Short answer: Google’s published numeric rule is at least 12 testers opted in continuously for 14 days. The public rule does not say that every tester must open the app once every calendar day. However, Google also reviews tester engagement, feature coverage, feedback and the changes you made, so a one-time install with no meaningful test is weak evidence of readiness.

What Google measures as the eligibility floor

When you apply, at least 12 testers must still be opted in and must have been opted in continuously for the preceding 14 days. That is the explicit threshold in Google’s help documentation.

What Google asks after the threshold is met

The production-access application asks whether testers used all available features, whether their behaviour resembled expected production users, what feedback you received, how you collected it, what changed and how you decided the app was ready. Google also says insufficient tester engagement can lead to additional testing.

A sensible testing schedule

You do not need to invent fake daily activity. Give testers a small, realistic plan:

• Day 1: onboarding, permissions and the main task
• Days 3–5: return to saved state, notifications or account flows
• Days 7–10: try edge cases and a second device type where possible
• Days 11–14: retest fixes and confirm the main flow still works

Collect feedback in Play’s private feedback channel, email, a form or your own support thread. Testers cannot publish public Play Store reviews for a test version.

What to record for the production form

Keep a short log with the feature tested, observation, action taken and release version. Four specific entries are more credible and more useful than fourteen messages saying “opened today.”
